At $9.99 a month, Pro Tools has never been more accessible for entry-level professionals and composers starting their careers. However, Pro Tools remains the DAW of choice for larger studios and the film industry. Other software packages offer more features at a more competitive price. Working in Pro Tools is a bit like joining a secret club. Composers and producers alike can confidently invest in a Logic Pro workflow to bring their ideas to life. However, Logic is limited to macOS and Apple has been a little hasty to drop support for older versions of the operating system. Logic Pro offers better value for money, ease of use, great-sounding presets, and an incredibly fun and easy-to-use iOS companion app. Work does not easily translate between DAWs, meaning once you make a choice, you’ll be locked in. Annoyingly, either platform is, well, a platform. Apple and Avid have both aggressively added new features to either software package and you can’t really go wrong with either choice. This was not always the case and in the past, either platform had unique shortcomings. Today, Logic Pro and Pro Tools each feature a complete set of tools for anyone to create music and sound. Flex’s unique features are required for some sound mixers, but most users do not need this tier for their workflows. Primarily designed for film and television professionals to perform advanced post-production workflows such as remote mix sessions, Pro Tools Flex is a requirement to use Avid’s HDX hardware. This is the best all-around pick for most users.įlex features the highest level of functionality and compatibility. Pro Tools Studio adds support for the Avid Carbon hardware interface, adding DSP hardware acceleration into the mix and offering enhanced plug-in performance. Pro Tools Studio comes equipped with a total of 512 tracks, allowing the production of professional studio-quality work. Pro Tools Artist is a compelling option for musicians and students alike who want to learn the ropes. It’s more than enough to get started with the software and compose intricate demos, or podcasts, but professional music producers and mixers will run into limitations in this version quickly. The main limitation of this version is the track sound, with 32 audio tracks and 32 instrument tracks. Pro Tools Artist is very capable and is bundled with over 100 plug-ins ready for recording. At the end, we’ll choose an overall winner.ĭon’t let the low price tag fool you. As we reach sections where the two apps are compared head-to-head, we’ll pick a winner for each section. While so many of these DAWs-which include Ableton, Cubase, Reason, and Digital Performer-all have significant strengths of their own, we’re going to focus today on two of the most popular DAWs for Mac: Logic Pro and Pro Tools. Confusingly, there are over a dozen major software packages (referred to as DAWs) available for purchase for the Mac. Around the world, recording studios ranging from basement projects, all the way to multimillion-dollar facilities often have a Mac running the show. Which DAW is right for you? Read on to find out.Īudio production and the Mac go hand-in-hand. Pro Tools battle to see which app is the best overall. We’ve taken it all into consideration and have tallied up the strengths of both applications in a Logic vs. But how do you choose the best DAW for your needs? And what about Logic vs. Logic Pro and Pro Tools are powerful pieces of software that allow musicians, producers, and post-production professionals to create, compose, edit, and mix music and sound.

Take atoms, for example, where negatively-charged electrons orbit a positively-charged nucleus. The uncertainty principle is at the heart of many things that we observe but cannot explain using classical (non-quantum) physics. Either way, your observation of either position or momentum will be inaccurate and, more important, the act of observation affects the particle being observed. Or else, given that quantum particles often move so fast, the electron may no longer be in the place it was when the photon originally bounced off it. But chances are that the photon will impart some momentum to the electron as it hits it and change the path of the particle you are trying to measure. You might similarly bounce a photon off it and then hope to detect that photon with an instrument. Seeing a subatomic particle, such as an electron, is not so simple. Each photon on that path carries with it some information about the surface it has bounced from, at the speed of light. You can read these words because particles of light, photons, have bounced off the screen or paper and reached your eyes. One way to think about the uncertainty principle is as an extension of how we see and measure things in the everyday world. Planck's constant is an important number in quantum theory, a way to measure the granularity of the world at its smallest scales and it has the value 6.626 x 10 -34 joule seconds. This is equal to Planck's constant (usually written as h) divided by 2π. Multiplying together the errors in the measurements of these values (the errors are represented by the triangle symbol in front of each property, the Greek letter "delta") has to give a number greater than or equal to half of a constant called "h-bar". The more accurately we know one of these values, the less accurately we know the other. The uncertainty principle says that we cannot measure the position (x) and the momentum (p) of a particle with absolute precision. In one of his regular letters to a colleague, Wolfgang Pauli, he presented the inklings of an idea that has since became a fundamental part of the quantum description of the world. In fleshing out this radical worldview, Heisenberg discovered a problem in the way that the basic physical properties of a particle in a quantum system could be measured. Among its many counter-intuitive ideas, quantum theory proposed that energy was not continuous but instead came in discrete packets (quanta) and that light could be described as both a wave and a stream of these Heisenberg was working through the implications of quantum theory, a strange new way of explaining how atoms behaved that had been developed by physicists, including Niels Bohr, Paul Dirac and Erwin Schrödinger, over the previous decade. The more familiar form of the equation came a few years later when he had further refined his thoughts in subsequent lectures and papers. An early incarnation of the uncertainty principle appeared in a 1927 paper by Heisenberg, a German physicist who was working at Niels Bohr's institute in Copenhagen at the time, titled " On the Perceptual Content of Quantum Theoretical Kinematics and Mechanics". All of my favorite Iron Man armors in one definitive place. Later versions have popped up since that time.Īnd there we go. In that arc, the Firepower armor annihilated the suit, and this allowed Tony to fake Iron Man's death. That pissed Tony right off, and he went out to go kick butt up and down the street. It's what I remember when I think of fantastic 1980's Iron Man stories, including one of my all-time favorites: Armor Wars, a rad comic book in which Iron Man discovers that a bunch of other armored supervillains had been using stolen Stark tech to run their suits. The suit was used during the Beyonder's appearance on Earth in Secret Wars II, the formation of the West Coast Avengers, and the Avengers' battle against Mephisto. It served quite well there, and Tony used it for a good long while, until it became one of the most iconic Iron Man armors ever. The armor was originally built for James "Rhodey" Rhodes during his time as Iron Man, but Stark wore it during his battle against the Iron Monger. Hands down, I will always pick Model 8, the good ol' Silver Centurion armor. Here we go, my personal favorite Iron Man armor of all time. Also, we technically have the Wakandan Hulkbuster, but since that was built by Black Panther, I'm not going to officially count it. It was used to fight Warbringer during the formation of the All-New All-Different Avengers. Then we got the Model 52, which actually compacted into a flying car, which was hell of rad. The Model 49 was deployed during Original Sin for a fight between Iron Man and the Hulk after Banner became convinced that Stark was responsible for the Malfunction of the Gamma Bomb that turned Banner into the Hulk. The Model 36 was used to fight the Hulk during World War Hulk. Eventually, it was remotely activated to attack Times Square, until Tony found a way to shut it down. Then there's the Model 31, which Stark created, but never wore. The Model 13 had plug-in points for heavy duty tech to enable a hulkbuster add-on that was used to confront the Hulk. Like the Stealth Armor, there have been numerous Hulkbuster Armors, so let's look at a rundown. It investigated the death of the Watcher and fought the Hulk during Original Sin. It did combat with the heroes of earth during Infinity. It stood alongside the rest of the lineup for the formation of the Avengers during the Avengers World era. This suit was the subject of several key stories. The suit's main improvement was its modular nature, which allowed pieces to be swapped out, depending on the mission. The suit was occasionally used remotely from space while Tony was there with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The bumblebee might not have been beloved, but it was a great new direction that was still clearly Iron Man. Also, I really liked the suit’s yellow and black coloring and its beautiful red highlights. The Model 42 was introduced during Marvel Now!, and existed to test out new tech in the Iron Man.įor example, the multiple repulsor cores were spread throughout the suit, giving it a better overall energy output. The armor was destroyed, but pieces were used in the construction of Pepper Potts' Rescue Armor, so it's still saving people to this day. An important one to behold, for sure.Īlso, Stark used a version of the Model 1 to defeat Norman Osborn in his Iron Patriot armor. This was, however, the armor in which he started, and the armor he wore when he founded the Avengers. Eventually, though, Tony realized that the suit was just too clunky and heavy, and he switched to a lighter armor. Once home, he painted the thing gold to make it look more heroic and less monstrous. Professor Yinsen and Tony Stark collaborated in building the first suit, which was in part a makeshift pacemaker to keep Tony from a painful death. And of course we gotta find a place for that classic of classics, the first Iron Man armor.īuilt in a cave in Vietnam, this hunk o' junk was able to take on Wong-Chu and his entire army of vague stereotypes that made us kind of uncomfortable when viewed from today's perspective. When an "Excludes2" notation appears under a code, it is acceptable to use both the code and the excluded code together. An "Excludes1" notation is used when two conditions cannot occur together, such as the congenital form of a condition versus an acquired form of the same condition.įor example, code H93.25 for central auditory processing disorder (CAPD) has an "Excludes1" note that prevents clinicians from coding it with F80.2 for mixed receptive-expressive language disorder.Įxcludes2 indicates codes that may be listed together because the conditions may occur together, even if they are unrelated. Conversely, the I69 series is accompanied by a "use additional" note instructing the SLP to identify the type of dysphagia in the R13.1 series, if known. For example, if an SLP assigns a diagnosis of dysphagia from the R13.1 series, the accompanying "code first" note directs the SLP to first list a separate code in the I69 series (in this case, dysphagia following cerebrovascular disease), when appropriate. These variations in sequencing will be identified very clearly at both the etiology ICD-10-CM code and the ICD-10-CM code that identifies the manifestation. The second-listed diagnosis-sometimes referred to as the secondary or medical diagnosis-is the medical diagnosis that is causing or contributing to the speech, language, swallowing, vestibular, and/or hearing disorder.
